MI vs CSK: Chennai Super Kings won the opening match of IPL 2020 comfortably by 5 wickets. The first match of Indian Premier League 2020 being held in Abu Dhabi was conducted without any spectators or cheerleaders. Despite this, everyone was happy and enjoyed the great game of cricket which was on display in the opening day itself.
Chennai won the toss and MS Dhoni elected to bowl first. Despite his strategies of batting first in Indian pitches, this was a rather different scenario for him in UAE pitches.
MI vs CSK: 1st innings:
Rohit Sharma and Quinton de Kock gave a good start for Mumbai. Rohit went for cheap, at only 12 runs in the bowling of Piyush Chawla. While his counterpart made 30+ runs which included 5 boundries.
De Kock also went soon after Rohit. Saurav Tiwary, who came to bat at No. 4 batted brilliantly for Mumbai Indians. He made 42 runs off 31 balls which included 3 boundaries and a six. He was the highest scorer for MI for the day as he perfectly carried out the duty he was assigned.
Pandya brothers went for cheap too following Pollard as well. None of the middle and lower-order batsmen really got settled as MI had to compromise for the score of just 162.
In bowling Lungi Ngidi look 3 wickets giving 38 runs off his 4 overs spell. Deepak Chahar and Ravindra Jadeja picked up couple of wickets as well.In overall, the bowlers were great in the first innings despite having no movement in the pitch.
MI vs CSK: 2nd innings:
The start was not quite good for Chennai Super Kings as they expected. The first four overs was not good for them as they lost their both peners for cheap.
Shane Watson went for 4 and Murali Vijay went for 1 as MI pacers Boult and Pattingson were getting some movement from the pitch. Both of the batsman got out on LBW trap.
However, after their openers got out without contributing for the team, middle order had to bat through pressure and win the game for CSK. To everyone’s expectations, they did the same.
Ambati Rayudu and Faf du Plessis has 100+ partnership for 3rd wicket as CSK was in a comfortable situation to win the game when Rayadu got out. They were 121/5 went Rayadu returned to Pavillion requiring only 40 odd runs to win the game.
Ambati Rayudu’s innings included 6 fours and 3 sixes and Faf du Plessis innings included 6 boundaries respectively. In their partnership, du Plesis constructed the innings slowly while Rayadu went on for big shots. The combo worked perfectly for the team as they won comfortably.
