RR vs CSK: 1st innings:

Total of 17 sixes were hit in the first innings. Youngster Yashasvi Jaiswal alongside with Australian as well as Rajasthan’s skipper Steve Smith opened for Royals. IPL Debut for Jaiswal was not as expected as he got out for 6 runs. But Smith proved once again why he is counted as one of the best batsman in the world.

Smith scored 69 runs off 47 balls. His innings included 4 fours and same number of sixes. He batted at a reasonable strike rate of 146.8. Sanju Samson, wicket-keeper batsman batting at No.3 was even more brilliant for Royals.

Samson alongside Smith made a great partnership for Rajasthan Royals. They made a partnership of 100+ for 4th wicket. Samson made brilliant 74 which included 1 four and astonishing 9 sixes at a strike rate of 231.

The middle order of Royals had a mini-collapse as Miller, Robin Uthappa and Tewatia got out without making any significant contribution for the team. Miller got run out without even playing a ball.

CSK bowlers suffered a lot today as Samson and Smith continuously traded balls for sixes in the top order. Especially, Piyush Chawla and Lungi Ngidi were given most hard times by CSK batsman as they gave 50+ runs off their respective spells.

In the lower order, Jofra Archer was phenomenal as he made 27 runs off just 8 balls. His cameo included 4 sixes and all of them were from final over or Jofra Archer. He struck first 3 balls of Ngidi’s over for 6. Ngidi’s third ball of 20th over was no-ball. Archer grabbed this opportunity with both hands as he struck free hit for six too.

At the end, Rajasthan went to make 216/7 off their 20 overs giving target of 217 for Chennai Super Kings to chase.

RR vs CSK: 2nd innings:

Openers had 50+ partnership for Chennai Super Kings. Murali Vijay and Shane Watson made 21 and 33 respectively. Despite being well settled, they could not convert their scores into the big one.

Shane Watson hit 4 sixes and a boundary in his innings of 33 runs. After he got out, Faf du Plesis came to bat and he proved his worth once again for the team. After performing very well in the first game for the CSK, he was promoted to No.3 as Rayadu was unavailable due to injury.

Before getting out at 19th over, du Plesis scored 72 runs off just 37 balls. His innings included a boundary and 7 sixes. He struck the ball very well at the strike rate of 194.

Sam Curran was promoted to bat at No.4. English left-handed batsman hit the first ball he faced for four. He scored 17 runs off 6 balls as he could not capitalize on the start he got.

Kedar Jadhav showed the potential that he could bat and bat well. Ms Dhoni came to bat very late compared to what everyone expects him. Although MS struck 3 consecutive sixes at the last over in the bowling of Tom Curran, it was already too little too late for CSK.

In the end, the score of 216 seemed far away for CSK and Rajasthan won the game by 16 runs.
